Gleanwild

From the ledger of the Gleaners

№ 013 · The Gully of First Claim

Watercolor over graphite: a rain-cut gully through leaf litter and moss, exposing a scatter of small treasures: a pale blue button, a copper penny, a bent key, and a plain silver ring, glinting in the wet dark soil.

Recovered scatter

Ledger rule, rainwise and seldom disputed: what the sky uncovers belongs to the first paws that reach it. Here the fresh gully has cut through leaf litter and shown its glints: a button, a penny, a bent key, a ring, while the woods hold their breath one moment before the scramble.

The ledger is still being written.
