№ 012 · The Rain-Soft Queen at the Rootway

Watercolor over graphite: a weathered Queen of Hearts playing card recovered at the west rootway, softened at the corners and bowed like bark after three days' rain, the red figure watching the narrow passage, a scatter of crumbs left beneath her gaze.

Recovered object

Recovered from the west rootway after three days’ rain: one Queen of Hearts, softened at the corners and bowed like bark. No hand claims it. The red figure still watches the narrow passage, and travelers have begun leaving crumbs beneath her gaze, just in case old paper can remember who passes.
