№ 009 · The Greenfire Marble in the Moss

Watercolor over graphite: a glass marble with a green-and-gold swirl resting in damp moss, ringed by three acorn-cup stools, a row of pressed pink petals, and small footprints in the dirt below.

Recovered object

Ledger notes mark this glass marble as found in damp moss after first light, its green-and-gold swirl catching the sun like a caged morning. Around it lay three acorn-cup stools, a neat ring of pressed petals, and many small footprints: evidence enough that someone had already named it magnificent.

What you lose is not gone. It is gleaned.
