№ 008 · The Tarnished Teaspoon in the Moss

Watercolor over graphite: a tarnished silver teaspoon lying bowl-up in deep green moss beneath dark blackthorn roots, three small pebble steps nudged to its rim and a twist of grass binding the handle to a root.

Recovered object

Recovered where it fell, bowl-up, in the moss below the blackthorn roots. The teaspoon is tarnished but whole, holding a thumbprint of thaw-water. Three pebble steps have been nudged to its rim, and a twist of grass binds the handle to a root. No claim-mark found. Likely adopted as a public basin.

The ledger is still being written.
